SUPPORT THE CENTER — COMPASSIONATE CHRISTMAS CARDS FOR KIDS

Many of the families who come to us for help are struggling with economic issues as well as emotional difficulties.  This is why we created our  Compassionate Christmas ~ Cards for Kids program to aid truly needy families during the holidays.

We believe deeply that taking this direction at Christmas is in keeping with our mission to provide comprehensive mental health care to children and their families.  Empowering families to create their own Christmas traditions serves many therapeutic purposes, not the least of which is strengthening emotional bonds.

We are delighted to be launching our third Compassionate Christmas ~ Cards for Kids program this year. Our psychologists and social workers identify those families in therapy who are most in need and generous donors provide gift cards so that families may purchase food, clothing and gifts for their children at Christmastime.  Our quest to improve and expand this important resource for our families in a time of financial stress for many has led us to a scrip clearinghouse.  When we purchase gift cards in bulk, we receive a small commission, which will help cover the costs of printing and mailing to publicize the program.  The donor benefits as well.  By sending a check to The Children’s Center, you save a trip to the store and can claim the charitable contribution on your tax return. Donations must be received by December 4 to enable us to distribute gift cards to families by December 15.

Last year we received many heartfelt thank you notes from our families.  The following is an excerpt from one written by a grandmother raising her grandchildren:

“Bless you all - for all the love given unconditionally, for all you do - for the hope when there was little for a better today, and tomorrow.  Thank you for that wonderful gift for my family when I truly needed it.”
