Doctoral Psychology Internship

The Children's Center provides three one-year internships for doctoral candidates in psychology. As a private, non-profit agency dedicated to helping emotionally and behaviorally troubled preschoolers and their families, your training will expose you to a wide range of psychiatric disorders throughout your year.

The Children's Center is not APA accredited. However, given the scope of our training program none of our interns have had any difficulty gaining employment or getting licensed. Moreover, it has not impacted their ability to gain access to insurance panels.

The stipend for the 2006 academic year is $18,000. We also provide health insurance and ten vacation days during the internship year.

For further information please contact Doug At (801) 582-5534, or dgoldsmith@tccslc.org, or Joanne for a application form.

Masters of Social Work Internship

The Children's Center provides two nine-month internships for University of Utah masters of social work candidates. As a private, non-profit agency dedicated to helping emotionally and behaviorally troubled preschoolers and their families, your training will expose you to a wide range of psychiatric disorders and family traumas throughout your year.

Given the scope of our training program none of our interns have had any difficulty gaining employment or getting licensed. Moreover, it has not impacted their ability to gain access to insurance panels.

A stipend is offered for 2nd year internships.

Undergraduate & High School Training Opportunities

The Children's Center participates with the various university and high school program in providing non paid intern experience. As a private, non-profit agency dedicated to helping emotionally and behaviorally troubled preschoolers and their families, your training will expose you to a wide range of psychiatric disorders and family traumas throughout your year. Interns work directly with clients in activity therapy groups, under the direction of professionals in the fields of social work, psychology and psychiatry, as well as speech pathology and dance therapy. Interns spend between 2 and 16 hours each week in direct client care, Monday - Friday. The Children's Center offers two locations in the Salt Lake Area.

Interns have a general orientation to the agency prior to client interaction, on-going training from the group therapists and weekly supervision and staff training. Interns are encouraged to work with the staff to plan treatment activities and to evaluate client progress.

For further information and an application packet, please talk to your faculty advisor at your university or high school, or contact Penney at:
