Psychology Internship- Doctoral Candidates
The Children's Center provides two one-year internships for doctoral candidates in psychology. As a private, non-profit agency dedicated to helping emotionally and behaviorally troubled preschoolers and their families, your training will expose you to a wide range of psychiatric disorders throughout your year.
The Children's Center is not APA accredited. However, given the scope of our training program none of our interns have had any difficulty gaining employment or getting licensed. Moreover, it has not impacted their ability to gain access to insurance panels.

Undergraduate & High School Training Opportunities
The Children's Center participates with the various university and high school programs in providing non paid intern and service learning experiences. As a private, non-profit agency dedicated to helping emotionally and behaviorally troubled preschoolers and their families, your training will expose you to a wide range of psychiatric disorders and family traumas throughout your internship. Interns work directly with clients in activity therapy groups, under the direction of professionals in the fields of social work, psychology and psychiatry, as well as speech pathology. Interns spend between 3 and 16 hours each week in direct client care, Monday - Friday. The Children's Center offers two locations in the Salt Lake Area.
Interns receive a general orientation to the agency prior to client interaction, on-going training from the group therapists and weekly supervision and staff training. Interns are encouraged to work with the staff to plan treatment activities and to evaluate client progress.
