The Eskuche Center For Foster Children, Provides therapeutic support for children in foster care, their biological siblings, their biological parents, and their foster families. The primary goal of the program is to increase a child's success while in foster care in order to prevent failed foster placements and to help the child successfully return home, or prepare the child for adoption.

The Eskuche Center offers immediate mental health services for foster children in order to help families manage the child's problems before they reach crisis levels. Mental health assessments are provided to pinpoint the areas of stress that need immediate attention. Treatment plans are then developed that are specifically tailored to meet the needs of the foster child, the foster family, and the biological parents. Our clinical team is able to teach foster parents how to address challenging behaviors and feel confident in maintaining that child in the foster home. We also work directly with the foster child, and when appropriate, with his or her siblings, to address emotional and behavioral issues that are not only threatening their current placement, but also impact the ability for their parents to provide adequate care.

Biological parents are viewed as a critical component of the child's treatment. Their input about the child's early history is invaluable as we work to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. In addition, our clinical staff is able to help the parents gain insight into the events and behaviors that lead up to the child's removal from the home and, with great sensitivity and care, are helped to re-establish a strong parent-child bond. Parenting classes, parent-child groups, and family therapy are all available to help the parent achieve their goal of bringing the child back home.

Foster families are provided with immediate support from the clinical team to help them understand the foster child's behavioral and emotional problems. The foster parents become critical partners in the child's treatment and are viewed as an integral member of the treatment team. Clinical support ranging from in-home consultation and observation, to family therapy and parenting education is available to help them insure that the child succeeds in their foster home.

By providing therapeutic intervention at the earliest sign of difficulty, The Eskuche Center for Foster Children is able to effectively evaluate and provide a range of clinical services to insure successful foster placements while simultaneously helping prepare the foster child for returning home or transitioning to an adoptive placement. By doing so, The Children's Center continues it's long standing tradition of helping "little children with big problems" get their lives back on track.
